Resource Summer Learning Fun!
*Below are some fun activities for your child to enjoy over the summer break.  I can’t wait to hear all about your adventures!  These activities are intended to be used Monday - Friday.


Day 1
Make a poster/Imovie of summer safety tips.
Day 2
Read a newspaper article about the environment.
Day 3
Tell a family member your favorite story.
Day 4
Count the number of steps it takes you to walk to the corner.  Skip count for more fun!
Day 5
Read independently for 15 minutes.
Day 6
Watch an educational television show and discuss with an adult.
Day 7
List all the uses of math around your house.
Day 8
Write a journal entry reflecting on last school year.
Day 9
Put an ice cube outside.  How long until it melts?  Evaporates?
Day 10
Read independently for 15 minutes.
Day 11
Look for bugs outside.  Write down all of your observations.
Day 12
Visit your local library and get “just right” books.
Day 13
Cook dinner with an adult and learn the do’s/don’ts of food preparation.
Day 14
Cut pieces of paper into shapes and paste them in a quilt pattern.
Day 15
Read independently for 15 minutes.
Day 16
Use a map and find places you have visited or would like to visit.
Day 17
List your favorite animal and discuss what makes it special.
Day 18
Write a paragraph about why you are thankful for our independence/freedom.
Day 19
Read orally to an adult for 15 minutes.
Day 20
Read independently for 15 minutes.
Day 21
Go swimming and find things that sink/float.  List them.
Day 22
Have an adult tell you a story and then retell it back to them.
Day 23
Go to the grocery store.  Talk to an adult about the prices and weight of food.
Day 24
Practice printing words in print/cursive.  Make a certificate for a job well done.
Day 25
Read independently for 15 minutes.
Day 26
Hide a treasure and draw a map for someone else to find it.
Day 27
Walk, run, or ride your bike/scooter around the block/street.
Day 28
Write a thank you note to someone who has done something for you.
Day 29
Practice your math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
Day 30
Read independently for 15 minutes.
Day 31
Cut off the TV and read a book out loud as a family.
Day 32
Cut a snack (apple/orange) into equal parts and talk about fractions.
Day 33
Try to count to 100 in 1 minute.   Then skip count with different numbers (2, 3, 5, 10)
Day 34
Look up events on the day you were born.
Day 35
Read independently for 15 minutes.

Make a grocery list that fits within a budget given by an adult.
Day 37
Read your favorite story to a younger child.
Day 38
On a trip/car ride, make a game of measuring distance and times.

Read outloud to an adult for 15 minutes.

Read independently for 15 minutes.

Practice telling time on an analog clock 5 times today.

Find something outside to observe.  Use your 5 senses and write your findings.

Watch a movie with your family and summarize the movie for your family.

Write a short paper telling me about your summer!

Read independently for 15 minutes.


Week before school starts - Enjoy your week off!  Get ready for next year and catch up on activities that you did not get to complete over the summer!
